The First Russia–Africa Summit held in Sochi in October 2019 became a milestone
event for both the Russian Federation and the African continent. Contrary
to the concerns (or hopes) of sceptics, the Summit brought together representatives
of all 54 African countries, 45 of which were represented by heads of state
and government. The event was also attended by the heads of eight major African
continental and regional organizations, over a hundred ministers, and a large
number of business owners and top managers of the largest corporations from
Africa’s leading countries.
